Iman Ennulus (DigitalSocrates): Crashed Thunderhawk 'Solidity of Faith'
The situation was worse than Ennulus thought, but panic was the furthest thing from his mind. There were gene-seeds in danger, and work to be done.
He took a brisk walk-through of the ship to identify the most pressing cases - armor compromised, extreme proximity to fire, likeliness of gene-seed damage. The situation might have been intense for anyone else, but Ennulus' combination of training, preparation and favor made the task trivial. Data flooded into his enhanced sensors and fed into the cogitator installed in his narthecium, quickly tabulating and storing the chapters and even names of each of the fallen marines. He was prepared for, and expected, to have to sacrifice the most extreme cases in order to save the many, but according to the statistics being read back form his cogitator, such triage did not seem necessary.
Ennulus moved quickly and efficiently to cover the high priority cases. While in the majority of cases it was the trauma of the landing that had ended the lives of these space marines, in at least ten, flying debris and ripping hulls had compromised the armor of the space marines - in five of those cases, entire limbs had been ripped off or torsos sheared in half. The worse case was in the nose of the craft which had crumped from impact; Ennulus spotted the helmet of one space marine sitting in a torn alcove, its body crushed between a flight seat and the roof of the cab. Ennulus had not expected the gene-seeds to have survived, but was pleasantly surprised (if he was capable of joy) to find that the gene-seeds were still in salvageable condition. They were quickly extracted from the mutilated corpse of his brother, run through his narthecium, digitally tagged, and stored alongside the growing number of holy organs on Ennulus' person.
Sounds of heavy stubber and chimaera fire occasionally made it through the chaos of the Thunderhawk's breached hull, but Ennulus paid these no mind. Excising heretics was a great duty, and Ennulus was grateful for the competency of his brothers who were keeping the lines held back. This was not an ideal environment to extract gene-seeds, but it was preferable to a similar one that also included defending from heretic attacks. It also meant that the brothers he had left at the shrine were likely safe.

Moments later, the Boreas' vox responds in time to Theodoros' command: "Corporal Theophilus reporting, my lord. The machine spirit is fully operational, hull integrity is intact. We are moving into the designated position without resistance, my lord. We will continue lending fire support to the ground troops until your orders." There is no word from the Imperial General, and Theodoros is left unsure exactly what the man is up to at this time. Before he can consider it, however, a vox channel opens itself to him, identifying itself on the Astartes frequency established for this meeting. The unmistakable voice of the Lexicanium Xavier Judicious Delibero echoes through, short and to the point: "Requesting Chimaera focus fire on enemy stubber nest dead ahead". Brother Theodoros Ikarion - APC Auster
Theodoros quickly filed away the status report and responded to the Lexicanium's vox channel first. "Acknowledged, brother. Positioning and initiating suppressing fire." As he spoke he swung the multi-laser in a lazy arc across the battlefield, casting searing energy into the heretics' massing horde. Continuing fire, Ballistics vs target 90: 64, success by 26 Damage: 2d10+10 = 4+8+10 = 22Switching back to the Chimaeras' internal channel, he acknowledged the status report and gave his orders. "Boreas, continue to position as ordered. Rotate to face diagonally across the street and use the multi-laser to place suppressing fire on the stubber nest at the end of the street. Auster, proceed to location and mirror position of Boreas. Glory to the Emperor." Command check (untrained) vs Fellowship (halved = 20): 65, failure by 45
As he voxed the command to the Boreas, Theodoros swung his own multi-laser up to the general direction of the stubber nest to start at least a little suppressing fire. Suppressing, rolling vs Ballistics (45) with compensation for equipment (-5, see above): 92, failure by 52
As he led the blast towards the nest, his eye suddenly caught on the leaping form of Brother Ramon, who was launching himself at the position of the enemy stubber nest. The shot went wide, blasting another unnecessary hole in the building, but missing the nest altogether.

As powerful as a Space Marine was, Ramon knew that even he had his limits. Against a horde this size, he simply could not afford to be bogged down. He had to get to that stubber nest without any more delay.
"Let's try this again..."
His jumppack roared into action again, launching him into the sky...

... and this time, he landed right into his target, giving the heretic stubber team a good understanding of what it means to face an angry assault marine without the luxury of distance. The sound of revving chainswords only made bladder control more difficult.
"Fine day isn't it, heretics!?" Ramon greeted.

"FOR THE EMPEROR!"
Ramon swung at the first heretic in reach.

Callisto Tenko (EikaForge) Agatha Parade Ground - Amidst the Heretics
Again, Callisto's blades flash and carve through several heretics, leaving only bodies in her wake. While they first came to her eager to fight, now the treacherous dogs begin to turn and flee before the Palatine's expert swordsmanship, attempting to escape their seemingly inevitable death and broken in morale. The soldiers on Deliverance Street continue to fight onwards, but it seems the main bulk of the assault on the Promethean Guard is being turned back. With a little bit of a push and a bit of courage, the Guard could be rallied and the chaos militia routed - for now. The heretics are no longer trying to fight her, having seen too many companions fall, but there are still some remaining who fight the Guardsmen in the intense melee at the defensive line. She could either assist the Guardsmen there, pursue the fleeing heretics in an attempt to break them, or determine a new tactic or path which might turn the tide of this battle. Actions:Callisto Tenko has a full action to use. Callisto's lips curled into a smirk as she saw the cowards run from the Emperor's might. Her sisters had yet to report any troubles with the remaining cultists and without fresh bodies to throw at the Imperial Guard, the lines would hold. That meant her prime concern were those who had shown their backs to her. She smoothly sheathed her swords and grasped her storm bolter. She squeezed the trigger... but the shots went wide. Perhaps she should try aiming next time.

Xavier nodded as the Chimaeras moved into position and he saw one of his fellow marines leap into the stubber nest. Trusting them to handle a situation he could not, he turned to the matter of the traitors engaged in hand to hand with his fellow loyal members of the Imperium. Unwilling to risk any of them with a reckless flamer burst, he drew his force sword and moved to the closest knot of loyal guardsmen to lend his aid.

NPC Actions:(No change in Victory Progress from NPC actions this round.) Lucian Sanguineus (Ilya) Hydroponics Lab "Garden Tower"
Lucian reaches the top of the stairwell and finds no sign of traps nor deception. A quick check at the door offers no sound of life on the other side, but there will be no way to tell exactly what is inside until the door is opened. There is a lock visible on the - a card-operated one - which may hinder any quiet progress into the rooms beyond. Forcing the door wouldn't be too difficult, but it would make a significant amount of noise. Actions: Lucian has a full action to take. Locked Door: Without the keycard to the door, a Routine (+10) strength test must be passed in order to force the door open. Theodoros Ikarion (Cyaziris) Promethean Guard APC 'Auster'
"Affirmative, Auster - opening fire," the Boreas replied. Heedless of the presence of a Space Marine in the building above, the multilaser of the Chimera turned towards the stubber nest and began to pulse aggressively, peppering the area with multilaser shots. The staccato fire of both stubbers are suddenly halted, due to the arrival of Ramón and an injury dealt to one of the crew by Boreas' fire. Renewed by the silence of the guns, the Guardsmen fight on harder to drive back the surviving heretics. Actions: Theodoros Ikarion has a full action remaining. Iman Ennulus (DigitalSocrates) Crashed Thunderhawk 'Solidity of Faith'
Ennulus' skill in this matter was unparalleled, and even by the standard of the Astartes, a Scion of Mars could execute this sacred duty with perfect impassion and efficiency. It would likely take some time to clear the rest of the hold's bodies, but success would be well within his means. Actions: Iman Ennulus has no actions available (busy tending to the deceased). Ramón Amadeo Pugilista (HOURAISAN) Deliverance Street, Amidst the Heretics
As Ramón lifts off the ground, the heretics swarm beneath him, chasing and firing futilely at the Astartes. Stubber rounds zip past his armoured frame with little accuracy, and the crew manning the nest panic as the marine's trajectory takes him directly in. His chainswords offer no mercy for the heretic manning the gun, whose life is silenced by the leap. A handful of panicked militia flee into the building, leaving the other nest to its fate. Before Ramón can acknowledge the other nest or act, a series of light pulses hiss and pop around him, scorching away chunks of the reinforced plascrete and coming dangerously close to his own bulky frame. While it is unlikely an Imperial Multilaser will burn through both the plascrete shell of the building and his own armour, the willingness (or inobservance) of the Chimera to fire on a Space Marine is of some concern. Actions: Ramón has a full action to use and is not debilitated by the stubber attacks in any way. Heavy Stubbers: There is now one unclaimed Heavy Stubber with a few ammo boxes present, while the other nest is still manned. If this nest is to be permanently silenced, the weapons will need to be either captured or destroyed, lest the heretics return in numbers to reclaim their goods. An Easy (+30) strength test would be sufficient to destroy a gun, though an attack with a weapon would also do the trick. Capturing the weapons will require either holding the point for reinforcements to arrive or physically carrying them (this would require free hands.) Xavier Judicious Delibero (StevetheERB) Agatha Parade Ground - Promethean Defenses
Engaged in close quarters combat, the crowds of chaos militia are easy pickings for Xavier's elite martial skills. His Force Sword cuts down several heretics with ease and their blood is a lift to the morale of those around him. Encouraged to fight on, the guardsmen push most of the surviving traitors from the line, shouting curses at the enemy and praises to the Emperor. Rallying around the Librarian, a squad of guardsmen begin shoring up the defenses with bodies and debris, using whatever they can as cover from the enemy's fire. A few cast awe-filled glances at Xavier and mutter their thanks to both him and to the Emperor for delivering them to safety. Enemy Forces Broken:Xavier's presence on the line and the magnitude damage dealt by him and the guardsmen have pushed the heretics over the line. They are retreating from the front here. (+1 Victory Progress)Actions:Xavier has a full action to use. Callisto Tenko (EikaForge) Agatha Parade Ground - Amidst the Heretics
Callisto's initial burst of fire was slightly put off by the rapid switch of weapons and the threat of enemy action, yet it was still enough to claim the lives of a dozen traitors as they scrabbled for safety, helpless against the rapid-firing storm bolter's threat. A few stray bursts of lasgun fire streak past Callisto, but she can see that the heretics are now mostly retreating out of sight of the Chimeras and the renewed Imperial defenses, seeking cover behind the buildings to either side of the street. They seem to be thoroughly broken at this point. Actions:Callisto Tenko has a full action to use.

"FRAK!"
Waving away the smoke and fumes of melted plasteel in the wake of the lascannon bolt, Ramon headed to a nearby window to see who was firing on him. Following that, he voxxed him.
"Fellow Space Marine!" said the voice in Ikarion's vox, "This is Ramón Amadeo Pugilista, of the Crimson Fists. I have cleared this stubber nest and I am holding it for capture. Cease fire and redirect to the other nest, I repeat, cease fire and redirect to the other nest!" Ramon made sure Ikarion knew very well that he was firing on a friendly - and wasting ammo on a nest that was already cleared - by having the pauldron bearing the heraldry of the Crimson Fists clearly seen.

"Acknowledged, Brother," he grunted into the Astartes comm channel, then switched back to the Imperial one. "Boreas, an Astartes has taken the left stubber position. Focus on the right stubber and continue suppressing fire." He carefully moved the targeting system of his own multi-laser to do the same. If they could destroy the second position, Brother Ramon would be secure and could possibly even use the position to fire into the heretic horde from behind, furthering their confusion and panic. He flicked the controls and death spewed at the building once more. Ballistics check at full auto (45-5+20=60): 64, failure by 4

GM Notes:I'm going to move this on a little sooner than planned, both due to how long this has taken and how it's basically over. To drive myself and hopefully others to post more often, I'm going to propose an idea starting next week: I will update as a GM every Wednesday and Saturday, with or without everyone's posts, as a bare minimum - if we end up able to update more frequently than that, I will endeavour to keep up, but that is the minimum I will keep my dedication to. If we can follow this deadline, it'll be possible to get through the story more quickly rather than sitting around waiting. (No change in Victory Progress from NPC actions this round.) Lucian Sanguineus (Ilya) Hydroponics Lab "Garden Tower"
Lucian's initial kick does little to damage the door, but over the course of time it's easy for him to break down the door, crashing into the room beyond after a few well-placed kicks. The room beyond is deserted and silent. There are no lights on, but light streams through open windows at the north side of the building, bringing with it a fluttering breeze. Papers are scattered across the floor and there are bloodstains engrained in the carpet as signs of a past struggle or murder. Lucian does not hear or see anyone respond to the noise of his door breaking, and the sounds of battle outside are quite substantial now - it sounds like the fighting is still in full force. Actions: Lucian may act freely. Theodoros Ikarion (Cyaziris) Promethean Guard APC 'Auster'
The multilasers' shots are wide of doing any significant damage, but the stubber nests have now gone silent and the heretics seem to be in full retreat. For his part, the situation seems stabilized on the front - albeit still tenuous. There are no longer any valid targets within the arc of fire of the Chimeras, which silently hunt for prey from their position on the line. Actions: Theodoros Ikarion may act freely. Iman Ennulus (DigitalSocrates) Crashed Thunderhawk 'Solidity of Faith'
After lengthy recovery, Iman successfully extracts the geneseed of each of his fallen brothers and cousins, documenting and identifying them each in hand. With the proper rites followed and the blessings of the Emperor granted, the fallen may now be at peace. The collected geneseed will be at some risk as long as it is carried on Iman's person, but there may not be a safer location to store it at this time, at a glance. Actions: Iman Ennulus may act freely. Ramón Amadeo Pugilista (HOURAISAN) Deliverance Street, Amidst the Heretics
Ramón found the suppressing fire around him had started to fade, but as he turned to face the other nest, he found emptiness before him. In terror, the surviving heretics were fleeing the stubber nest, abandoning their weapons in hope of salvaging their treasonous lives. With the stubbers now silenced, there was no more threat to the men below. Heavy Stubbers: Both heavy stubbers are now unclaimed as the heretics have fled in fear, removing them as a battlefield threat pending Ramón's decision towards their fate. (+1 Victory Progress)Actions: Ramón may act freely (whether to re-engage in combat or something else). Xavier Judicious Delibero (StevetheERB) Agatha Parade Ground - Promethean Defenses
All around, the Guardsmen cheered with their newfound victory. Those nearer to Xavier looked in awe, many praising the Emperor or whispering thanks to the Librarian for saving them. The heretics were now all slain or had fled from the front lines, unable to resist the turning tide that the Astartes or Sororitas had offered. Moments later, the Celestine Sister of Battle Callisto Tenko marche past Xavier, towards her fellow sisters. Xavier can't help but notice that the strange sensations he's been feeling in the warp are stronger from that direction than they were anywhere else. Actions: Xavier may act freely. Callisto Tenko (EikaForge) Agatha Parade Ground - Amidst the Heretics
Callisto's sisters are still in a defensive position around the Inquisitor - around them are the scattered bodies of a number of heretics, but they still stand strong, boltguns smoking in the aftermath of the battle. The squad's Superior, Sister Georgene, bows to the Celestine as she approaches. "My lady, we have defended the Inquisitor; she lives, although she is in critical condition and requires assistance we cannot offer." Actions: Callisto may act freely.
